None of my friends have lost their jobs. I was recently in India, and everyone i talked to was asking how bad was the job scene in US. I think India and Indians are affected more because of IT consulting jobs.

My attorney says I can do so, I have asked him how.
Our corporate office handles all and I do not have any information about this. I hope my attorney is correct and I do not find myself in trouble after I change location.

I seriously doubt if they will introduce favorable GC amendments in the next round.The focus is on the illegals and we will get negatively affected in the process. Our best course of action would be to oppose this bill and hope for it to fail. My 2 cents.
PS I do hope I am proven wrong though :-)
I strongly feel that CIR should be brought back and our amends included by our lobbying. Next time CIR is brought back, I am sure favorable amends for H1b GC applicants will be included/debated. I am only concerned about why there are no updates from the IV core group so far. Lets hope the lobbying firm that IV has hired is keeping track of the "behind the doors" discussions to make CIR more pleasing to those who voted against the closure of vote.

There was lot of talk in the past about lawsuit against USCIS against Porting and moving dates slowly etc.
Has anything been done yet?
This is something like filing a law suite against Manmohan Singh for having inefficient ministers under his goverment.
Hire a top attorney, paying him half of your earnings to get an answer from the court saying that "thats how things work".

The summer August recess is here and the lawmakers are back in their constituencies. This is an opportunity for us to meet with them and address our issues and present solutions in preparation for the upcoming CIR. We must push for our agenda to get our provisions in the base bill as CIR is being drafted currently. If we do not get our provisions in the base bill then it is much harder to get them attached to the bill in the form of amendments.
IV therefore requests its members, to call up and start scheduling lawmaker meetings NOW. Please take appointment with your local lawmakers of both houses of Congress. The State Chapters will be organizing state level calls to coordinate this effort. You will be given detailed instructions and given documents to carry for these meetings. They dont want to loose visa numbers for this year. 2 years movement guarantees that those eligible can file 485 & EAD. If next month USCIS receives 50,000 applications the dates could move back.

On a positive note, there is extra publicity for the flower campaign. On a flip side, if IV was linked to this post, we would had some more people flow into this website and possible new members and campaigners.

For you or for her? Getting a H is not easy (you will have to wait till Oct 2009) and maintaining a H without paystubs is not legal either. Should be far more easier & quicker for her to get a F visa.
In general, avoid getting into risk situations that you cannot get out of. In the long run, being safe with immigration matters and resisting the temptation to make a few extra bucks will be more beneficial.

My immigration attorney said it was OK for my wife to "volunteer" as long as the work was "volunteer", i.e. something a US citizen could "volunteer" to do.
She volunteered to work at a local library and it was a good diversion until they set a schedule for her and removed a job posting in the same library - then it became both a question of her being exploited and taking a job away from a US citizen, so she had to give it up. So, the lessen is, if it is truly volunteer work, then your spouse should be able to set his/her own schedule; if the schedule is set for him/her, then it becomes a problem.

EB3 retrog is completely hopeless in next 2 or 3 years unless the legislation release is passed. Lobbying is the only way to influence.
suppose this SKIll bill is passed, probablly not this year since election are aboutto happen. what are the chances that EB3 worldwidw will become current when SKILL BILL goes into affect. I am sure there are majority of people here are Eb3 category.
What if someone is got a few monts left before they finsih the Masters, but their process in in EB3. Can they take advantage of this bill. Obviouslly one has to finish the degree first.

Doesn't matter. MS+0 works just fine. (My EB-2 was MS+0).
If you've been working for this company for past 2 years and now they are going to file your GC... and you've no prior experience.. you can mention in your employment letter that you've been working since 2 years and could attach an experience letter from them to highlight the fact.. This is definitely doable and lawyer should have correct format to do this...

Hi all,
I have to go to India on 1st jan , 2009 for 2 weeks , for my brother's marriage on jan 14,2009, but my existing advance parole expires on jan 12 2009.
I have filed for the renewal of advance parole but I want to know as to what other option do I have , if I dont get my renewal advance parole by jan 1st ?
If my AP expires on jan 12th and I come back on jan 16th and tell the customs agents that i have applied for a renewal and just didnt get it before I left, is that acceptable?
