On July 25th lawyer sent my documents 140 & 485 concurrent, PD port from previous I-140 approval (approved at Nebraska).
Reached Nebraska Service Centre on July 26th.
Will it be processed at Nebraska Service centre or Texas Service centre? According to new direct filing instructions my employer and my residence comes under Texas Service centre.

Is this rally still on? On 14th? Then please update the first post on this thread which still says July 7th - it is confusing.
Also, considering that there are only 4 more days to the rally if it is on 14th, we need considerably more publicity in the media and on blogs on this.
This rally will be a watershed event because as far as I know, this would be the first of its kind by skilled, legal immigrants and it should get the media attention that it deserves.

I hope everyone is sending out the press release to their media contacts. As you all know, this event is not centrally co-ordinated and everyone has been really proactive in getting the word out.
Same goes for the media contact as well. No single person is emailing/faxing this information out - everyone is doing his or her bit.
Since most of the coverage will come from journalists local to the D.C. area, members there should be particularly aggressive in calling local newspapers, radio stations, tv stations etc.
Let's give this thing one big push.

Today I spoke to a Representative who deals with immigration issue at Sen Mike Dewine's (R-OH) office. I spoke to him for 15 minutes to understand what he and his senator think about this CIR.
Here is he and his senator feels about this bill. It is difficult for him to say that when CIR bill will be introduced in senate floor . It depend on Majority and Minority leaders to decide. Majority leader told to the media that he will introduce before the end of the may, he is mostly consistent, but there are several bills where he has committed a timeline and till today it is not on the floor.
However he told that once CIR pass, legal immigration is already taken care of, but if it does not passes there are bills like SKIL which will be put before the floor. But CIR has to fail or pass before you see this SKILL bill on the floor.

Section 202 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual employment-based preference limits. This means a country with large population like India and a tiny country like Lichtenstein get same number of visa numbers. This system is designed to systematically discriminate people from India and China by preventing them from attaining employment visas. More research needs to be done whether this constitutes a violation of US Equal Employment Opportunity Law. We need to find out whether this constitutes discrimination by national origin. dummgelauft porting is happening and you may be correct about non IT companies and big IT companies being unwilling to port.
I can recollect 7 people immediately of which 1 is a genuine EB2 , 1 was a genuine Eb3 (2003) and remaining 3 have done labor substitution in Eb3 , 2 in Eb2 with dates ranging from 2002-2004 during the July Fiasco. 2 Eb2 people already got their GC's.
The other 3 people now have at least 3 years exp from 2007 --> 2010. Making them eligible for Eb2 ( with a variety of education + work exp combinations).
Lucky people are the ones, who could manage to get labor substitution during June-July 2007, got EAD's within 6 months, had the flexibility these 3 years and are now capable of porting to Eb2.
In the end it boils down to how resourceful one is and adapts to the situation and able to make things better for themselves. Same goes for L1 -> EB1 route. Porting by a person who has a substitute labor of 2002 ( in July 2007) will also effect a genuine EB3 application from 2006, as they are moving ahead even in the Eb3 queue.

Average worldwide processing time for employment based green card applications is 1.43 years (Priority Date to GC approval).
In simple words, it takes 5.5 years to wrap up the 1 year GC demand for Indian applicants presuming there is no overflow from any other country GC visa quota.

Free riders if you are reading this and I know you are, please and please come out of your cheap mentality and donate. You know very well that saving 20$ will not help you build a TajMahal, but donating just 20$ or 50$ will make a huge difference to millions of people INCLUDING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
So don't be ashamed of yourself by not donating and donate generously.
Not sure where you get this philosophy of encouraging people to donate by hurling insults. There is a solid proposal from realizeit which is gaining traction and many people have committed donations. Motivating people by solid proposals rather than silly insults and calls to their conscience by abusing it gets us nowhere.

I had a LUD on 7/28 and nothing after that... My I140 approved in Texas in April2006. I think we should get the receipt number here pretty soon...
Why do you have this hunch?
It seems like all the LUDs on approved I140 from Texas for July filers is pointing towards their I485 being sent to Texas too. Hence, this unimaginable prolonged delay. Can we do anything about it except sulk?

Well, following the discussion on BS and MS grads and some of the members cribbing why the MS(from US) students get special treatment, here are my 2 cents.
1) By makng sure that a person is MS they are making sure the population getting greencard is YOUNG !! , it's simple, highly educated "kids" who understand the US culture, since they have studied in US universities and have a whole life ahead of them to do good in Research etc.
Kids gel in fast for e.g if you see a person with BS and MS from the US, his behaviour is attuned to the society as compared to one who just has a MS and a BS from India.
2) On the other hand someone who has a MTech or worked 10 years in India, chances are these guys are already in their late 30's or 40's, so they are not getting the youth in, or a person who will take a lot more time to gel in the soceity as compared to the student.
3) Most importantly, they can't trust people whose degrees are not from the US. Their quality of education, their authenticity. Also, I think the quality of top 100 US univs, which most indians come to anyway, is much better than most of Indian Univs for MS. The kind of infrastructure and teaching they are exposed to is tremendous.
PS: Someone mentioned that PhD's get paid for reseach. Doing researrch is extremely demanding. I would rate it twice as demanding as a regular job! and the amount the students get is peanuts! Like ~$1500 a month for working ~ 60 hrs a week in research is hell !!
Unfortunately, in doing this you may loose some really good candidates, who may not have a US degree, but thats the price you pay "to be safe than sorry"
I think, this should help people who were complaining about this difference better understand that even though they have better profile, it's from a different country and it becomes difficult to verify that.

Called 3/14 the first time and was told that FP would be scheduled. Never heard so called again on 5/9 and this time was told to callback after 60 days from the initial call.
I spoke with one rep who said that they are processing "June 29th" applications so you have to wait for your "Biometrics Appointment". I am kinda lost on this one.
What is the best number to reach the right Customer Service department alongwith the options to reach a live person to speak with who can actually schedule the Biometrics Appointment.
Am a July 2nd Filer - Actual Application filed on Sep 10th.

On May 2 nd I called Customer Service Center and told them that I did not get FP and Biometrics .I used the words that I was depressed ,worried and all others who applied after me got FP but I did not get it ,my son going to be 21etc .......Finally Male IO scheduled FP immediately for me and my family on May 16.I saw LUD on Friday itself and another Lud on sunday ,I got the letter on next wednesday and i finished my fp on may 16 .
