Santosh_gc, I don't have a problem when you talk about illegals getting ahead of legals etc. But the comment about illegal immigrants bringing corruption into the U.S. was way out of line. It is unfair that illegal immigrants may get ahead of legal immigrants. Let us leave it at that and not speculate on how they might introduce corruption into society. No discussions on how they break the law when they enter the country - that is a bogus argument. Just about every one of us breaks the law every time he/she gets behind the wheel of a car, unless you claim you always drive the speed limit. By your logic, then every immigrant from India can be disallowed as we are exposed to as much corruption in India as there is in Mexico and we might infect the U.S. culture just as much. Bkam's comments didn't add any value to the discussion and were just offensive.
Keep the argument civil and logical and treat others the way you would like yours to be treated.

I am EB2 - July 3rd 9:03 AM - R WIllialms - Nothing received yet ..
I called up yesterday and the lady on the phone tells me that we need to wait 90 BUSINESS days before we can raise a service ticket etc - Which is like 4 months nearly - November 2nd.
Anyone else got a similar response ?
To my knowledge its not business days, its 90 calendar days.

The EB-2 category for Indian nationals has retrogressed four years and will be set at January 1, 2000 for applications received beginning June 1st. If you are from China, the backlog is five years less - February 15, 2005. And if you are from any other country in the world, there is no wait at all. I am really appalled that Congress allows such an unjust distribution methodology to remain the law. No country is permitted to claim more than 7% of the numbers in a green card category. yes that is true. I did not had any problem with mortgage. Atleast as of today, it is illegal to deny mortgage based on immigration status. If you have any idea of buying a house, it is better to do it before any law changes if at all there is one in the pipeline as you(madhuri) suspect.
It is all how you see your life. Just concentrate your energies on positive stuff you have. This will bring you more energy and most importantly, it will bring more for those who sorrounds you like your family. Peace in family is very important to pursue anything in life and especially career and that too as an immigrant in US without GC.
I bought my house more than 2 years ago and refinanced 2 times. There is no problem in getting a mortgage. Make sure you tell them that you are on H1 and you should have a very good credit rating.

If Yes, i will really appreciate if you can contribute and help us in any way. This is an organisation run by people like me and you, who have full time jobs and have families also. If we all can take out some time out of our busy lives and try to help IV, then everyone will know about IV.
When we say we need to convince people, which is ridiculous, as i am 100% sure, everybody knows whats going on. We all are suffering and are here fort he long haul. If still people dont want to do anything, then no one can help us.

To all sorts of flower campaigns,
Let us first complete July 10th mission flower campaign, where many people here including me has sent flowers for july 10th delivery.
Let us see its impact by July 11th and then try another round by sending flowers to local senators and congressmen with simple message of costs involved and lost money and oppurtunity by revised july bulletin.
Also, unless we make explicit mention of costs involved, i think impact wouldnot be felt.
Please plan the missions one after the other.

Thanks for the reply, Do you mean proceed with corp-to-corp between current Y(employer) and Prior-employer X(by paying h1b tranfer fee). Sign the Agreement with Employer X to continue GC and then sue them ? ?hmmm... interesting.
Before accepting an Employement with company X, if there would have been an agreement stating they will sponsor my green card (atleast the paperwork), that would have helped me.. hard luck..

Well, you assume family members can get AP and EAD after submitting I-485. Not true for many people. Take myself as an example, I was not lucky enough to file my I485 in 2007. So with a PD of early 2007, I have none of the benefit from AOS at all.
Although for me it's not a big deal because my wife will soon get her PhD and will file for her own immigration petition. This actually works better for us, because it will make the line much shorter and both of us will get the green card much quicker.
However, for those who do not work and solely depend on their spouses to get green card. This change can spell disaster for them during the long wait caused by retrogression without the ability to file AOS.
Chan is right. If interpretation will start the way you are proposing, it will be sheer disaster for people who didn't file I-485 yet.
